D&D Will Have TWO Adventure Books this Fall

Waterdeep: Dragon Heist will be joined by Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage.

Waterdeep: Dragon Heist will be available on September 20, 2018. The book is designed for running adventures in the fantasy city Waterdeep, the fabled “City of Splendors” in the Forgotten Realms. Players need to use diplomacy, intrigue, stealth, and their wits to follow clues and solve puzzles in an urban treasure hunt to advance from 1st to 5th level.

Coming off their hugely successful Tomb of Annihilation, which was a jungle-based exploration, a city-based adventure set in Waterdeep is a logical followup.

But that not the only storyline that D&D players will get in the Fall of 2018. Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage will allow players to crawl their characters all the way to 20th level by adventuring in the oodles of levels in the Undermountain, the land deep beneath the city of Waterdeep.

While the city of Waterdeep or Undermountain might be familiar to D&D players who may recall adventuring in the city or the old Ruins of Undermountain boxed set days, Undermountain may be more of a deep cut for many. Populated by drow and duergar, criminals and crooks, Undermountain is best known as the neighborhood of Halaster Blackcloak, The Mad Mage.

Undermountain has 10+ levels chock-full is kooky mazes, wizard experimentation, and hordes of monsters, many of which have oozes up from the Underdark. Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage promises to be a throwback to the mega-dungeon days of old.

One notable location of Undermountian is Skullport, located in the 3rd level. A hidden pirate cove that is fed by the underground River Sargauth, exiting Skullport requires a captain to literally sail a ship into what appears to be a cavern wall, hoping that the magical portal will which the ship to the outside sea. Skullport is filled with merchants, marauders, knaves, and nasties, so that level of the Undermountain alone promises to provide tons of adventure hooks.

All in all, two exciting additions to the D&D 5e library of adventures. Learn more at the D&D website.
