What to Listen to this Weekend: The 5 Best RPG Podcasts
For the week ending November 30, 2018.
There is a glut of great RPG podcasts out there for nerds. So many, in fact, that it’s hard to know where to begin! But we’ve got you. These five podcasts are the best of the bunch, and should be at the top of your weekend listening list.
Tune in to hear what you’re missing!
What to Listen to this Weekend
1 The Glass Cannon Podcast
What is the Glass Cannon Podcast? Well, in the spirit of old school Dungeons and Dragons, a collection of five super-nerds (Joe O’Brien, Grant Berger, Matthew Capodicasa, Skid Maher, and Game Master Troy Lavallee) emerge blinking from their parents’ basements to engage in an actual play campaign of Paizo’s epic Pathfinder adventure path, Giantslayer!
As Four Bears is pulled into the darkness by an unknown monstrosity, the party must act quickly without knowing what they’re up against!
Here’s the link: Episode 183: Romancing the Bones
2 Androids and Aliens
The aforementioned GCP crew take to the stars in an all new campaign in Paizo’s newest system: Starfinder. As a direct result of the Patreon support for Glass Cannon, they’re working through the Dead Suns AP in an all new podcast, and they’ve brought along a new cast member, Ellinor Dilorenzo!
This week’s synopsis:
The crew is left at the edge of the jungles of Ukulam with only a centuries old braggart’s guide to lead their way.
Tune in to Episode 34: Stumble in the Jungle
3 Fortunes Untold
Fortunes Untold is a show where a group of gamers get together and review different tabletop RPGs. But they don’t just tell you about the games, they show you how they play. The crew tries out the rules, test drives the setting, and at the end of the adventure they hand out Experience Points and see if the system levels up.
They’ve just started their actual play and review of Call of Cthulhu from Chaosium, and plan to play, review, and compare all of its various spin offs afterwards!
How will Hank and Aidan survive their encounter with the strange creatures in the caves? Will they ever find Joshua? Most importantly, will they ever find the treasure they’re searching for?!
Put down that copy of the Necronomicon and tune your RCA Westinghouse to WHP-28 for this week’s episode: “The Darkness Beneath the Hill”.
Here it is: Episode 9!
4 New Path Podcast
The New Path Podcast is dedicated to the Pathfinder Play Test created by Paizo Publishing, Doomsday Dawn! The crew began Part Three of Doomsday Dawn this week in Episode 11: Affair at Sombrefell Hall, Part 2.
Join our Game Master Matt as he runs Hannah, Adam, Wes, and Casey through Paizo’s Pathfinder Play Test – Doomsday Dawn!
This episode is part 2 of the Affair at Sombrefell Hall, Part 3 of Doomsday Dawn!
5 Find the Path Podcast
We’ve written before about our love for Find the Path, so I’ll point you there. But the tl;dr version is that it is a live play show that is playing through the Mummy’s Mask Adventure Path for the Pathfinder RPG from Paizo. If you aren’t familiar with Mummy’s Mask, think ancient Egypt and you have the general vibe!
This week they dropped Episode 33: The One With The Undead Uprising. Here’s the synopsis:
Welcome Pathfinders! The dead of Wati have begun to rise! As our heroes dive back into battle they quickly realize that the zombie attack on the Canny Jackal auction house is only the beginning… but before they can rush out to save the city they must first save themselves!
