A list of Twitter Nerds: Who to Follow to Get Your Twitter Nerd Fix

Twitter is nerd approved. No matter your interest or sub-culture, there will be a laundry list of people to follow.

Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day are nerd royalty and they are must follows. Same with Chris Hardwick and Nathan Fillian. But here are 7 more excellent nerd follows on Twitter.

John Scalzi

John Scalzi wrote the sci-fi classic Old Man’s War and the laugh-out-loud (if only there was a abbreviation for that!) sequels that followed it.

He is extremely witty and interacts on Twitter A LOT. Better yet, he often tweets IN ALL CAPS, just to show his enthusiasm for something truly nerdy.

Bonus: Follow Patrick Rothfuss if you want to follow an excellent fantasy author to balance Scalzi’s sci-fi.

Nika Harper

Since we’re talking about authors to follow on Twitter, I think it’s important that we also play a track that’s a little bit of a deeper cut.

Nika Harper may not be extremely well known, but she’s earning her geek cred. Nika is the vlogger responsible for the fantastic Wordplay series, where Nika gives little tips and challenges to encourage creative writing.

iFanboy

iFanboy is a great website for comics. Their twitter feed is chock full of excellent of excellent reviews and comic recommendations. For more of a personal touch, I recommend following Paul Montgomery, one of the site’s editors.

Jesse Cox

Every nerd Twitter list needs a video gamer and there isn’t a gamer on Twitter that has a more interesting Twitter feed than Jesse Cox.

From his made up words to his Youtube game run-throughs to his travels to Peru, he’s always got something to say. All that and he comes across a a genuinely decent guy, which, let’s be honest, can be rare on the internet.

Neil deGrasse Tyson

Most folks know Neil deGrasse Tyson from the recent resurgence of the Cosmos series, but he’s been dropping nerdy stuff on Twitter for years. Just about all my dad science jokes come from his feed and even though my 5 and 3-year-old daughters never get the jokes, it’s important to start children early on clever puns generated by a renowned astro-physicist.

Bonus: If you want your science to have more of a practical mechanical engineering bent, follow Adam Savage from Mythbusters.

Kevin Rose

Most nerds know Kevin Rose as the founder of digg.com.  It might be low-hanging fruit to add him to this list, but every nerdy Tiwtter feed needs a good technology guy in there. But if silicon valley isn’t your thing? Simply follow another Kevin: Kevin Pereira or Kevin Smith

Nerds on Earth

It’s shameless, but it has to be done. We’d be remiss if we didn’t ask for a Twitter follow as well. And why wouldn’t you follow? You’d get all sorts of nerdy stuff from comics, movie and games right in your Twitter feed!

There you have it, some nerdy Twitter feeds just for you. Give them a follow and please share in the comments if there are some nerds out there that we missed and need to follow.
