Amazon Prime’s Invincible Trailer

What Is Invincible?

This week, Amazon released their first significant trailer for their new animated show, Invincible. On some level, it should not be a surprise that the independently creator-owned comic has managed to make it to the screen. I mean, series writer Robert Kirkman has made the A&E network more than a little money with a little show you may have heard of: The Walking Dead.

The comic series itself has had a long successful run, focusing on some of the teenage tropes you love about heroes. In some ways, it is Kirkman’s take on Spider-Man and Peter Parker with some twists that you may not see coming.

Given some of the vocal talent that they have amassed for characters, including Steven Yeung as Mark (the titular Invincible), Sandra Oh as his mom, and J.K. Simmons as his dad, the potential on this one looks great.

My one worry as someone who had read nearly all 144 issues: they seem to be burning through A LOT of the plot those volumes contain for it being just 8 episodes. You want to have more material if it takes off, but I trust Kirkman for that, even if I did drift away from The Walking Dead.

It should be noted, as well (as if it was hard to miss it in the trailer, ha!), that Invincible, like the comic behind it, is rated M for Mature. It will be largely due to graphic depictions of violence. It falls somewhere on the spectrum between the MCU and The Boys as far as adult material is concerned.

Amazon Prime is set to release the first three episodes on March 26th, with subsequent Fridays hosting one additional episode through the end of April.
