Marvel Strike Force: A List of Underrated Characters!

Each week we break down one more aspect of the hottest mobile game, Marvel Strike Force!

Most of the fun of Marvel Strike Force (MSF) is unlocking the characters so that you can use them. As you progress, the real fun starts when you can complete teams and see all of the in-game synergies at work!

As I have stated before, you really want to unlock Legendary characters (here is the list of them) so that you can maximize the teams in which they belong! Take Shuri, for instance. The Wakandans without her are just a middle of the road squad. You will likely be able to unlock the other 4 Wakandans very easily, and you will need to find a 5th member until you can unlock Shuri.

In my opinion, this is also part of the fun of this game, because there are a hand full of toons without a true team and while they end up getting forgotten about as you progress through the game, they are some of the more underrated characters in MSF! Let’s look at them.

Marvel Strike Force: Underrated Characters

So here are my top 3 most underrated plug and play toons, with a couple other toons who are underrated for different reasons.

America Chavez

Most MSF “experts” will talk about a Hero Brawler team as more of a catch-all team. As new teams have been added to MSF, toons either get poached from the Hero Brawlers or they find themselves being caught by this island of misfit toys.

However, one character has actually been the lynchpin for this team. America Chavez’ passive ability increases the percentage of health for each Hero Brawler ally. In addition, her special ability damage increases per Hero Brawler alley. Unfortunately Chavez is going to be the latest poach from the Hero Brawlers for the recently introduced “Young Avengers.

Maybe they will end up with 6 toons on that Young Avengers team, so America Chavez can stay where she belongs, as the powerhouse for the Hero Brawler Team!

Hulk

Hulk has a team: The Wave-1 Avengers. But that team has essentially been dismantled because of the Asgardians team taking Thor, Power Armor taking Iron Man, and Hawkeye in desperate need of a rework.

Either way, very little of what makes Hulk great comes from his Wave-1 Avengers synergy. He is just one of the tankiest of tanks, who packs some pretty good punch as his health falls.

Hulk is a fairly early unlock because his shards come from in game achievements, so you will have time to move him around from team to team as needed. I currently have him with a mix-matched team of toons: Sabertooth, America Chavez, Deadpool, and Captain America. As I catch up the teams to the other toons, I am sure I will have no problem finding a spot for Hulk. He may never get another true team to call his own, and that’s ok, because he just works wherever.

Nebula

This one might get the most push back, because Nebula is considered one of the weakest characters in the game. However, this might be due by in large to her not having a team and her not fitting the “Hero Brawler” catch-all team.

Nebula’s tags are: Villain, Cosmic, Tech, Brawler. If she were a Hero (which she should be now according to the MCU) then she would fit PERFECTLY into the America Chavez makeshift team, even though she isn’t your traditional brawler for MSF.

Sure, Nebula doesn’t dish out a lot of damage, which is what most of the brawlers do in this game. On the flip side of that, she is a bit of a pain defensively. She has higher health and gains evade on her ultimate and basic abilities. She also gains counter with her special and revives with her passive with the chance to assist on attacks because of her passive.

The main problem is that the percentages are lower than toons that have been reworked or debuting now. So, if the percentages are not in your favor, you don’t get great use of her kit. A simple rework for Nebula would do WONDERS for her, but even as she is, she is a very interesting character. Don’t sleep on her usefulness!

I also want to talk about 2 characters who aren’t underrated in the typical sense of the phrase.

Bonus: HELA

The first is Hela. Hela is clearly a top toon, and no one should dispute that. However, Hela is a major factor in why the Asgardians are one of the top tier teams in the game right now.

Her whole kit is so good, and she is essentially one of the best toons in any game mode she is eligible for: Villain, Mystic and Cosmic campaigns. Plus, she is useful in Arena and was the key for me to finally 3 staring the Ability materials challenge tier 10!

I might even suggest that Hela is more of a Legendary character than Iron Man, who isn’t even the best character on his Power Armor team.

Bonus: Falcon

Which brings me to my next weirdly underrated character: Falcon.

Falcon is actually the key to the Power Armor team and he is also a great character to move around as needed because he has flexible synergies and a great kit!

His passive is his weakest ability, but what he lacks there he makes up with his other abilities: His ultimate is a great AOE (Area of Effect – or as I most often like to call it “Attack on Everyone”) because Falcon hits everyone and adds piercing for each positive effect. You also can start with this attack, so if you are facing a team with a lot of passive buffs he can really wreck their start to the match!

More importantly, he has a speed bar manipulation for his special by using Redwing, who also uncovers enemies in stealth. You can also use this to start a match, and if things go well, you can really mess up your opponent in the PvP mode where Sam Wilson is an unsung hero.

Well, I hope this helps you take your Squad from a D+ to a B-, Commander
