Marvel Strike Force: Expect a Cold Front with Emma Frost

Welcome back Marvel Strike Force (MSF) Mondays. Previous installments:

This weeks’ topic is tackling how we are going to unlock Emma Frost on the first go around WITHOUT spending a dime! A HUGE shout out for Boilon for making the most thorough 11 minute video possible—with spreadsheet and all. He has done the math, so you don’t have to.

However, if you #aintgottimeforthat We have you covered with a succinct blog about how you need to approach the Emma Frost event. Hopefully, you have been hoarding gold as basically every MSF content provider has been saying for weeks now!

Emma Frost unlocks at 100 shards and will be released to the free to play MSF members in a milestone campaign like Symbiote Spider-Man. This week the milestones start on Wednesday, August 19, at server reset 8pm (EST). Our understanding is that she will get 3 rounds of this, but if you want to unlock first time around, you need to be on top of things!

Marvel Strike Force: Expect a Cold Front

The milestone categories are: High Roller, Save the World, and World Warrior; two of these you have complete control over, and 1 comes down to your Alliance, so hopefully you have an active Alliance, because they may make all the difference between you and the white queen.

High Roller

If you have 1,825,000 gold a day to spend on gear and toons, then you will gain the max 5 shards daily, meaning that over the course of the first 4 week run, you will have brought in 140 shards on gold spending alone.

Boom, EMMA UNLOCKED!

With a little gravy on the side! However, as Boilon points out, that may not be possible, so he also gives us a middle ground mark of 1,250,000 gold spent daily for 112 shards and she is still unlocked! Any less on the High Roller and you are in danger of what he calls worst case scenario.

Save the World

For this campaign you can gain up to 28 points per two days—as it runs for 48 hours—and you should hit this based on free energy you get, plus spending the 50 core refreshes on energy (which if you aren’t doing regularly, you are missing out on valuable farming)!

The 50 core cost to refresh 120 energy is the best use of your cores, and that is agreed upon across the board for the MSF experts! And during this event, it is an absolute MUST!

Every scenario that Boilon has mapped out–best, middle and worst–banks 28 points total for this portion, so you do not want to come up short because you missed the EASIEST shards to obtain!

World Warrior

This is where things get dicey and well, you may get booted from your Alliance. The World Warrior milestones are a collective between your entire Alliance. If you have never checked out the scoring, let me make it real easy for you:

Win a Blitz battle = 10 points
Battle in Raids = 30 points
Battle in Arena = 85 points
Win or lose an attack in WAR = 85 points

If you were completely unaware of this, then you likely to fall into the category of a “bad Alliance mate” but that is a little on me, cause I didn’t really cover this in my post about being a standout Alliance mate!

Either way, now is the time to make up for your lacking. Boilon estimates 6 shards a week for maxing this category. However, that is not likely unless you Alliance plays like gangbusters.

He projects 4 a week for a good Alliance effort and that will get you 16 shards and 8 in the worst case scenario. However, if we handle our own business, then this is just icing on the cake!

So don’t rely on your Alliance mates to unlock Emma, get your house in order first and foremost, then you will be laughing your way to a new meta Marauders team! (Yes, even though Emma doesn’t have the Marauders tag, she boosts Mr. Sinister, so pair these two together for sure!)
