Friday 5 collects links and videos spanning all of nerd culture – collating bits of news, fun, and other noteworthy offerings that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of the week.
Nerd Culture Highlights for the Week of August 28, 2016
1. Stranger Things Season 2 has officially been announced
Netflix’s smash hit original series is coming back, baby! All the teaser really gives us is a list of episode titles, but all we really needed were the words “Season 2.”

2. The New Mutants movie lands The Fault In Our Stars writers.
Which is totally appropriate since TFIOS is definitely YA and The New Mutants very much ought to feel that way. Mirage, Magik, Cannonball, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, and Warlock have just the helmsmen they need for their silver screen debut. Fingers crossed that the end result will leave us wanting more and not less (looking at you, Fantastic Four).

3. Here’s what Thor was up to during the events of Captain America: Civil War.
As it turns out, he was chumming it up with his new friend, Darryl. From io9:
It’s basically the adventures of Thor living with his new roommate Darryl in Australia. They live, they laugh, Thor stalks Darryl at work. It’s really freaking hilarious.

4. Dragon*Con has taken over Atlanta!
Seven of our writers are currently within walking distance of one another, and its glorious. A few of us are playing Dungeons and Dragons together tomorrow morning, two more are participating in the world famous Dragon*Con parade in full cosplay gear, and at least one other is walking around doing who-knows-what (whose turn is it to watch Ross again…?).
Not familiar with Dragon*Con? Feeling pretty confident that it has nothing to offer you? Read this before you write it off completely!
5. Another Earth Nerd is in Seattle for PAX.
Andrew Heaton (our newest Nerd) is currently taking in PAX. He’s written about what he’s looking for here if you’re wondering what PAX is and offers.
Normally our Friday 5 is a little more extensive than this, but this week our writers have nerdy things to attend to IRL, so we’re keeping it short!
