Welcome back to MSF Mondays!
Each week we break down one more aspect of the hottest mobile game, Mobile Strike Force!
Many players and content creators seem to be over the Defenders and I really can’t understand why. While I agree they are not a great team to be all in on, they are a very useful early game team. In fact, I would suggest they are unavoidable as a part of your early game success. So here are 7 reasons for the Defenders as the early game essential team.
Marvel Strike Force: Love Defenders
1 – The Defenders are generally easy to get as they are farmable in early nodes and stores. While the argument is valid that Daredevil in the Arena store should not be your major focus, there is also no reason to not at least unlock him for the sake of completing this team.
2 – Hero campaign has to be a priority early on. Some people have talked about Sinister Six or A.I.M. early on, and while I wouldn’t disagree, you cannot use those teams in the Heroes campaign. And while you could throw together a crew of heroes, why not focus on a team? Defenders should be that team.
3 – They have interchangeable members. There are only 4 characters in game with the actual Defenders tag, so you can play around a little with the 5th member. While the most common (and my favorite) 5th is Punisher, and you can also use Ms. Marvel or America Chaves with this team to maximize synergies. You can also use two of those potential 5th members if you haven’t unlocked all 4 actual Defenders right away.
They have good synergies which make them a useful team much longer than most people will admit and this is a HUGE part of why they are underrated.
4 –One of the coolest synergies is between Punisher and Daredevil. Punisher’s passive will eventually have him counter any attack on Daredevil—a very cool call back to the Netflix Daredevil show. There is a scene in season 2 of Daredevil where Frank Castle is on a rooftop sniping Hand Ninjas while Daredevil is fighting. Well done MSF.
5 – Ironfist active and passive heal with Luke Cage’s protector can sustain this team for a long time. Ironfist is a VERY underrated healer, only because his healing only really benefits the Defenders. Which is fine, because you don’t need Ironfist for other teams once you get past midgame. Add, Ms. Marvel for extra sustainability, and this team will drive your opponents crazy.
6 – JJ is the secret weapon. Jessica Jones stealing energy off of her basic attack really makes this team tough, especially when those energies are going to Luke Cage and he can continue to set taunt and Deathproof on more frequently.
7 – You have probably been using them wrong which could be corrected with one opening move. Daredevil typically goes first and you need to open with is special attack, the baton throw. This attack sets 2 counters to each Defender ally. Which is great when you have an early round AOE from your opponent. I especially like to pick teams with Scarlet Witch when using Defenders, because with her low health/armor and her early AOE, you can usually take he out on all the counters. Especially with Punisher’s additional counter because Daredevil has been attacked.
Again, I will admit, you need to chill with how much you invest in this squad. They are not anything great after mid-game. I suggest level 60, gear tier 9, and 5-5-5-3/4* and level 2 ISO max. However, the notion that you should just skip them all together is asinine, because they are a very useful complete team to have early on!
After I wrote this article I stumbled on a great video by GoffyRhexxi about 6 characters who need a little love. Punisher is on this list and he has a very hot take! Give Punisher the Defenders tag and this team could be legit with Punisher as the official 5th member!
Well I hope this helps you take your Squad from a D+ to a B- Commander!
Game Radar
Blitz: Monday is Killmonger, while we get our first YELLOW JACKET Blitz on Thursday! At least, that’s what all the buzz is about.
Upcoming Events: Orb-Opening event – should be coming. It has yet to be 100% confirmed in game, but Tauna, Oh Em Gee, and other experts are suggesting you hoard orbs for this event. My thought? better safe than sorry!
Upcoming Legendary: BLACK BOLT!! This is a Legendary event I have been harping on for weeks now. You need Black Bolt and 4 other Inhumans to unlock Ebony Maw, so hopefully you have five Asgardians at 5 stars or more to unlock this absolute legend!
Black Bolt: April 27th, August 17th, December 7th (Requires Asgardians 5-star)
Shuri: May 11th, August 31st (Requires Spider-verse 5-star)
Ebony Maw: May 25th, September 14th (Requires Inhumans 5-star with Black Bolt)
