Welcome back to MSF Mondays!
Each week we break down one more aspect of the hottest mobile game, Mobile Strike Force!
This game is quite adept at pitting 5 toons against another 5 toons, as most games modes are just that. So it makes sense that most teams are groups of 5: Wakandans, Asgardians, Symbiotes, just to name a few.
However, as the game masters at MSF have been introducing so many new characters, some teams have exceeded 5, while others remain short of 5 total. For instance, the Sinister Six went from 5 to 7 in the past few months, whereas the Young Avengers remain at 4.
Let’s talk about Advanced Idea Mechanics, or AIM! It’s all about the acronyms in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I mean, the MCU.
So Tauna made the AIM-train uber popular for newer players, and while I didn’t jump on the hype, the team proved valuable to those who did, and now I am sitting here at Doom node 2.1 wishing I had already built up AIM.
AIM at its best is good in quite a few game modes, the most valuable of them being WAR. I have not seen much AIM in the Top 100 of my Arena Shard, but I imagine those who built them up early on were able to ride the train to a pretty good level in their Arena grouping.
AIM Breakdown
Since there are 7 AIM characters, you do have to sideline two of them. And when I say sideline I truly mean that you need to cast them aside. Unless you have enough characters left over to make a random blitz loss team, AIM Infector should not see any in-game action if you can avoid it. As soon as you have 6 AIM toons, this is your odd toon out. When you have 7, you have a few decisions to make.
Your core AIM toons have to be: Graviton, Scientist Supreme (SS), and AIM Assaulter. This leaves two spots to play around with.
I would go much bigger on Graviton and SS as they can be used with other toons later to do a little more damage in game modes, but Assaulter is crucial for this team because of the passive ability: Juicer. This increases speed bar for self and adjacent AIM allies. So positioning of this team matters a great deal!
As for the rest of the team, most people would suggest AIM Security and either 1) AIM Researcher or 2) Monstrosity. I have good Red Stars on the monster early so I have the big boy as part of my AIM team. However, I see him less and less when I see AIM teams in WAR.
In WAR, AIM is probably better on defense, but I have also used them on offense and they even fare well against teams that are a slightly higher power. The positioning I have used (L to R) is Security, Graviton, Assaulter, Monstrosity, and Scientist Supreme.
Although, I am building a Villain Tech team around Ultron and using SS there now, so I have put Researcher back in the lineup to replace SS. I also think a lot of people started switching to AIM-Tron and essentially if you are going big on AIM then I would replace Monstrosity with Ultron but move Ultron to the far right and move SS next to Assaulter, again for the passive.
The only other problem with this team now is that the WAR store has become loaded with must-have characters. So “farming” Graviton there hurts because you should prioritize (in order) Sinister, Minnerva, Ghost, X-23 and Sif. After those are leveled, you can try to get Graviton IMO.
In that case, this thwarts the idea of this team being an early team you should focus on. If you landed Graviton shards in a Mega orb or if you happen to unlock all the other AIM toons quickly you could focus on Graviton, but I would only unlock him and then immediately start spending WAR currency on the list of toons above!
Well I hope this helps you take your Squad from a D+ to a B- Commander!
