Marvel Strike Force: Is there a Future for MSF? Part 3!

Source: https://www.marvelstrikeforce.com/en/updates/blog-update-2-12

Welcome back to MSF Mondays!

Each week we break down one more aspect of the hottest mobile game, Marvel Strike Force!

Most assuredly you have heard the cries that the sky is falling on MSF for the past couple weeks or so, and some content creators are calling for round 2 of #FixMSF and another spending strike. The last patch wasn’t great, from the content and in game things addressed to the myriad of bugs in the game and legendary schedule errors.

However, here at Nerds on Earth we are not about the gloom and doom. So I want to take a bit of a proactive approach to all the salt being thrown around.

After this last weekends’ blog post and the road map post, it appears the fan base is cautiously optimistic. First, I want to point out a couple highlights.

Marvel Strike Force Highlights

Nick Fury – MSF taking Nick Fury is a step in the right direction as far as legendary characters. He is now always available and only a 3-STAR RELEASE, just like Iron Man! This is huge especially for newer players because now with the Wave 1 Avengers and Nick Fury SHIELD you have two extremely valuable teams built around Legendaries.

Yes, yes, I know Iron Man is a rather weak Legendary toon, but he still counts, technically. These teams are worth going after. I do wish they had listened to PaPokemon who suggested Star-Lord get the same treatment, but beggars can’t be choosers. Also, a Villain would have been nice as well. Which brings us to perk number two!

Baron Zemo – Putting Baron Zemo, who is a top-flight Villain in the Raid store is amazing. This should be the anchor of everyone’s Villain team for the campaign and should help newer players unlock the Hela sooner! This should be where everyone focuses their Raid store currency!

Zemo is also a top-end WAR plug and play offense toon as well as makes Hydra a great team to build early! This brings Crossbones and Winter Soldier into more viability as you can unlock both of those characters earlier!

Marvel Strike Force Orbs

Week one I shared this video by PaPokeman and it is totally worth listening to!

The last aspect that Isaac addresses, which I want to focus on, are orbs! While PaPokeman even adds his own new orbs, I will comment by using existing orbs only. We also are operating on the idea that Scopley actually listened to my last blog about rearranging stores.

Therefore, all minions are in the blitz store and you can maximize your loot by opening orbs there. So, NO MINIONS in any orbs! This will not only still allow MSF their RNG mechanism. But will also make the orbs more attractive for purchase using cores or dare I say it, $$$.

Basic Orb – The basic orb is probably fine as is, and is the most worthwhile if you are thinking about spending cores on an orb. BUT to get a little you gotta give a little, so the Basic Orb needs to take a hit for the benefit else in this fictional request blog. New characters like Bishop (who is already in the orb) should not hit the basic orb for weeks or months after becoming farmable.

Legacy Orb – These should be the toons that were around when the game first launched and/or toons that bring people to the game. If this game would not have had characters like Cap, Wolverine, or Spider-Man I would not have bothered with the game. There are plenty of others, but those are legacy characters and belong in the legacy orb.

Premium Orb – This orb has been under fire since I entered the game 425 days ago. They can go one of two ways here. Take out less desirable characters and make a narrow field of premium characters, or offer guaranteed higher shard drops. These wouldn’t be quit Mega Orb level, but in the middle – maybe 15, 25, 30 shards as the levels.

Milestone Orb – Milestone Orbs might need a big reset, I might have suggested early one that any character released in Milestones would go into these orbs and then maybe Orb exclusive characters such as Cull and Coulson. Though I am still on record that “I, like much of the player base, refute the idea of “fountainable” and do not believe in orb only characters.” If the orb was very much exclusive characters then it might be more palatable.

Mega Orb – They need to continue to clean out the orb, a 50 or 100 shard drop of Shocker isn’t all that excited considering he has 2 nodes right now. I might swap out he and few others for orb exclusive characters. Again, if “fountainable” meant multiple orbs and you could get 50 or 100 shards of those character here and there, that would go a long way! They can even make the drop rate on some less probably like they have with SSM or Coulson in the Milestone Orbs.

Well I know this doesn’t really help take your Squad from a D+ to a B- Commander, but my hope with this series is to take MSF as a game from a D+ to a B- or better! Because if not, there is a new Marvel mobile game coming out soon and we might just see a max exodus.
